Zacharie Potvin Williams -

Having delved into painting, drawing, printmaking and animation, Zacharie has been focused on ceramics in the past years. To them, clay blurs the line between mediums: it allows to experiment with integrating illustrations and printmaking techniques to functional objects. Their time spent in the woods has had a massive influence on their work, may it be in the Colombian jungle or northern BC’s bush. Zacharie would sketch and watercolour, and kept nurturing their enthusiasm for amateur mycology, entomology, ornithology and lepidopterology; deepening their interest in plants, forests and their dwellers and their presence’s healing potential. The images that come up in Zacharie's work often showcase the realm of botany and its magical attributes. Zacharie likes to create connections that blur binaries and speak to people’s capacity to transform, but also underlines the fact their practice is rooted in not taking themselves too seriously and keeping a playful, sometimes humoristic approach to creation.
