Tessa Cyr is a young writer born in Ottawa, and now based in Montreal. Avid of human psychology, she made it her academic focus to allow her to further dissect personalities, emotions, pain and relationships. Melancholic and sentimental, she found solace in writing as a means to maneuver her own feelings and sense of self in the world beyond the clinical buffet of prescribed medication that left her with a burdensome lack of presence. Tessa wrote feverishly since she could hold a pen, later using poetry as an act of intellectual and temporal preservation. Her texts are deeply personal and intertwine various instants of her own perception. Objects ranging from garbage wrappers, stuffed animals and climatic phenomena are personified and empathized with, making her writings as impactful as they are tender. Gentle like the inner child scrutinized in her work, Tessa allows us to heal with her as she rewrites herself for the sake of her reader.
