For Ophélie Bouchard, cakes are a way to make perishable art. She pushes the boundaries of sculpture, creating intricate and colorful edible pieces that appeal to our stomachs and to our inner child. She enjoys the idea of sharing an ephemeral object that will be consumed in a celebratory context; her practice is clearly full of love from the beginning to the end. Ophélie has a background in painting, and she takes inspiration from nature, her dreams and other art forms, like music - but mainly forms themes through people’s suggestions when ordering a cake. It is, in a way, a collaborative project everytime.
