Taylor Maki aka MAKI RUGS is a textile artisan who has marked Montreal’s art scene with her mesmerizing avant-garde tapestries. Although indefinitely returning to her hometown of Kelowna in BC, Taylor has managed to make a name for herself and leave a notable impact on Montreal during the three years she spent here. After years of toying with different mediums, she discovered rug tufting in 2021 and instantly grew attached to making pieces that bring warmth and protection to a space. Inspired by pairing colours that initially rouse chaos, she ties them beautifully in a psychedelic sense of order brought through symmetry and repetition, a style that evokes sacred geometry.
