Jocasta Clarke is a Seattle raised, Montreal based photographer and art director who goes as the alias Kitty. Using photography and photo manipulation to explore character design and storytelling, her post-utopian work often draws from film nostalgia and cultural tropes. Set in Kitty's vivid dreamscape, her images create stories that play at the boundaries of what seems familiar yet foreign, at times almost liminal. Growing up with a feeling of displacement and anxiety, she grew fond of americana films and media from the late 20th century which heavily influenced the narratives in her collective work. Jocasta's surrealist style is a contemporary mix of pop feminine iconography, full of sentimentality, curiosity and anything in between.
